Based on the previously mentioned background regarding suitable storage environments, there is no fixed timeframe for the aging of hand-painted oil canvas. It is primarily influenced by storage conditions and the material itself.
Normal Conditions: Under normal storage conditions, signs of aging such as fiber brittleness and slight yellowing will gradually appear after approximately 20-30 years.
Ideal Environments: Under professional conditions of stable temperature and humidity, and protection from light and contaminants, high-quality linen canvases can withstand over a century without showing significant aging. Many canvases from antique oil paintings remain intact to this day.
Harsh Environments: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, high humidity, or drastic temperature fluctuations can lead to severe aging problems such as cracking and mold growth within just a few years.
